Book Giveaway for Michigan Teachers with Mission Based Books!

April 29, 2012

Last year our partners and good friends at Mission Based Books hosted a Teacher Day where they donated over 9,000 books to Michigan teachers. Check out pictures and details from last year’s event. They opened up their warehouse for a few hours to area teachers who came and hauled away as many free books for their classrooms as they could carry.

The date for this year’s event has just been announced, this coming May 12th, 2012 from 9am – Noon the warehouse will again be opened up to Canton, MI area teachers. For more details and to sign up, visit the Mission Based Books site. Come prepared with boxes or bags and get ready to fill them up! There is always a great variety of books, all kinds of subjects and reading levels, there’s something for every reader.

We’re so thankful for our relationship with Mission Based Books and their continued efforts to support teachers in their community. As budgets are tight and schools are focusing on teaching to the new Common Core State Standards there are even fewer resources to devote to classroom libraries. It isn’t uncommon for teachers to reach into their own pockets to supplement their libraries, looking for just the right book to encourage and inspire their students. Companies like Mission Based support this inspiration and help make it possible for many students to have books to enjoy.

If you are in the Canton area be sure to sign up, and supplement your classroom library!

Little by little,

Kiki
