Starting a Book Drive

July 11, 2011

Think Global, Act Local!

We’ve all heard that phrase time and time again. Well, if you’re looking for a way to teach your kids what that phrase can mean this summer, we’ve got an idea for you. One of the ways Court’s Kids reaches out to cities across the country is through supporters like you. Last year my cousin Ali started a book drive at her son’s school. Over the course of a couple of weeks families brought in new or gently used children’s books. Once collected, Court’s Kids matched them up with a local program in need. It was simple and easy.

If you are interested in starting a book drive in your area, email us at  This could be a fun project for kids “suffering” from summer boredom. Have them sort through their bookshelves and pick stories they’ve grown out of and want to share with another child. Not only will you have a great opportunity to talk about giving back with your child but you will be supporting a program in your area. Budget cuts are rampant and (believe it or not) Back to School plans are starting to gain momentum. We’ll help you find a school in need nearby and help arrange for pick up or drop off.

There are lots of ways to give back this summer, make Court’s Kids a part of your plans and help us provide early intervention and special education programs with books they need.

Little by Little,
