Spring Book Sort Results

February 20, 2011

This last Saturday (Feb 19th) we held a sorting event at the Court’s Kids Worldwide HQ – AKA, my house. It went so well, we had help from our board member, Marcia, our intern Whitney, my mother-in-law Kathy, and a high school volunteer Maurisha. It was a great day.

Book Sorters Working Away

After a week full of rain, sleet, and snow we got this one day of beautiful sun out of complete nowhere. It was awesome, and a little bit of inspiration to crank out some book sorting. Courtney was definitely smiling down upon us. We had such fun, sorting through boxes of donated books, finding treasures and sharing stories. I have to say that is the best part of our book sorting days, the stories. Every single person who has sorted with us has found something that has sparked a memory of their early reading. I’ve sorted with Marcia a few times now and I have to say I love hearing her random chuckles throughout the day, that tells me she’s found something fun and I’m about to hear a great title or a fabulous illustration. I love hearing that chuckle.

Books, Ready to Go!

This group of sorters were like machines, they ripped through these boxes like nothing I’ve ever seen. I had the day scheduled from 9am-4pm to sort and thought we would need the whole day. Not really, these gals had us all wrapped up by noon! We had a chance to sit down and have a sandwich and talk (naturally) about the books we were currently reading. It was so much fun.

All in all we have several boxes of books to get out to our partner schools. In total we have 2,221 books packed up and ready to distribute. We’ll be doing that soon, if you want to help just click here.

Now to distribute.

Little by Little,

Kiki
