Wrapping in PDX

December 16, 2009

This weekend we had an amazingly successful gift wrapping event in Courtney’s hometown of El Paso, TX.

Many of the customers were very generous and supportive of our efforts. This week we will do the same event here in Portland at the Barnes & Noble in Washington Square. I hope all our Portland friends will come and do their shopping Friday and support Court’s Kids. I’ll personally be wrapping gifts along with my lovely mother-in-law (who’s really good at wrapping gifts) and some good friends.

I think one of the great things about Court’s Kids is that it will always stay close to friends and family of Courtney. All of us are involved. Even though we have a structurally sound board of directors, everyone knew Courtney at one point or another. We’re all committed to supporting education and supporting children in Courtney’s name.

This week we committed to supplying classroom libraries to the three classrooms at Klamath Falls ECI where Courtney worked. We’ll also send a set so they can start a Birthday Book program. This is a program where each child can pick a book to take home and keep on their birthday. Home libraries were very important to Courtney, so part of our goal is to not only supply books for the classroom but also bring books into homes. We can do this…

Little by little,
