Another “Truckload” of Books Ready for Delivery

December 2, 2009

Today was a great day! We have 1800 books waiting in my car to be delivered tomorrow for the Marysville School in Portland. We were also able to get a small library of 100 for the Hazel Dell Special Education Program and a stock of a few hundred at least ready for our next school for which I am now on the hunt.

The staff at River City Books was incredibly helpful and after we had everything all sorted and packed up we even got help loading everything into our cars. Thank you River Books! Today we also got a little extra help from one of our board members, Marcia. I worked for Marcia 6 years ago and have always wanted to work with her again. As luck would have it our friend is available to sit on our board and help us to build Court’s Kids. She’s a great asset and I’m so happy to have her help.

Not only is she going to be a great help as we really get Court’s Kids off the ground but she is a mad sorter! We ripped through piles of books like nobody’s business! It was fun, we found so many treasures and really fun titles I can’t wait to get them distributed. We found many copies of the classics and beautiful almost full sets of the Little Golden Books, Berenstein Bears, the Nancy Drew Series, Babysitter’s Club, Goosebumps, and so many more. The vast majority of the books are in wonderful condition, you almost wonder if they were ever read more than once. My feeling is that will change very soon.

More tomorrow as I deliver the books for Marysville.

Little by Little,

Kiki

Are you kidding? Sorting books was a blast! I’m up for this task anytime we can coordinate the times.
